Jaanimmarik School

Graduation 2017

Graduation is a very special event at Jaanimmarik. On Monday, June 12th, 19 students have been living this event. Mrs Martha Greig made a prayer. The speakers were: Mrs Annie Popert, Mr Robbie Watt, Mr Alain Rochefort, Mr Jeff Creamer, Mr Tunu Napartuk, Mrs Mary-Joanne Kauki, Mr Cyril Boone, Mrs Valérie Raymond and Mr Pierre-Luc Vaudreuil. Sammy Gadbois, Nicolas York and Xena Jones received a price from Air Inuit, Lance May received a price from Northern Store and Mrs Mary-Joanne Kauki gave prices to: Matilda Gordon, Bridget Grist, Jonathan Nassak, John-Roy Watt and Davidee Imbeault-Gagné. The Lieutenant Governor medal was earned by Marianne Perron and the Governor general medal was deserved by Patricia Deveault. Beautiful moments with beautiful people ! Sciences Fair 2017

Jaanimmarik's Sciences Fair took place on February 1st 2017. Many students presented their research. The first place winners were: Elia Lauzon and Qullik Whiteley-Tukkiapik, Sec. 4 students. The second place winners were the Sec 1.0 english students represented by Sonia Gordon and Betsy Angnatuk and the third place was to the Sec 1A english class.

Elia, Qullik, Sonia and Betsy presented their research projects to the Nunavik Regional Science Fair on February 14 and 15 at Innalik School, in Inukjuak. During these two days, teams of young scientists from each of the 14 Nunavik communities presented their projects to students, parents and local residents.

The first prize (500$) was awarded to Elia lauzon and Qullik Whiteley-Tukkiapik from our school !

Their project sought to determine which blood group was the most represented amongst the Kuujjuaq Inuit. In addition to winning the first prize, they will have the opportunity to represent Nunavik at the Quebec Aboriginal Science Fair, in Odanak, from March 28 to 30, 2017.

To the beach !

Futures Fair

futures Fair

The Kativik School Board Futures Fair visited our school on April 21 and 22. Secondary students received informations about employment opportunities and education needed to obtain these jobs. Adults were invited in the evening. Presentations were so interesting for all of us ! We hope that this event will take place every year for our students and for the community.
